Itinerary

August 27 - September 5 2018

In Skaraborg the travel group will be divided into two.

 

Day 3 and 4 - Group 1 have their Genealogy Days - Group 2 going on sighseeing.

Day 5 and 6 - Group 2 have their Genealogy Days - Group 1 going on sightseeing.

Day 1: Monday 27th August

Included: Evening Meal at the hotel.

  • Pick up at the airport Landvetter in Gothenburg by bus and guide.
  • Check in at Clarion Collection Hotel Odin in Gothenburg.
  • Free evening.
Gothenburg is in swedish Göteborg.

Day 2: Tuesday 28th August

Included: Breakfast & lunch & Welcome dinner.
Included: Entry and guide at The House of Emigrants in Gothenburg.

By bus and guide
  • Guide in Gothenburg.
  • Stop at the dock "Amerikakajen" where the emigrants boarded the ships to North America.
  • Visit The House of Emigrants in Gothenburg. We get a guide and see the exhibitions.
  • Travel to Skaraborg and check in at Hotel Roser in Skara.
  • Welcome Dinner at the hotel with the travel group and local genealogy researchers.
It’s our first opportunity to meet one another and we will make a brief presentation to talk about the coming days.

Day 3: Wednesday 29th August

Included: Breakfast & lunch.

Group 1: Genealogy Day
  • Program are set for each of the participants with Skaraborg Ancestory by your local genealogy researcher.

 

Group 2: By bus and guide

Included: Entry and guide at Läckö Castle.

  • Läckö Castle
  • Kinnekulle.
  • Swedish fika.
Läckö Castle, Kinnekulle are at the coast of lake Vänern. The lake is the largest in Sweden and European Union, the third-largest lake entirely in Europe after Ladoga and Onega in Russia.

Day 4: Thursday 30th August

Included: Breakfast & lunch.

Group 1: Genealogy Day
  • Program are set for each of the participants with Skaraborg Ancestory by your local genealogy researcher.

 

Group 2: By bus and guide

Included: Entry at Varnhem Monastery Church, Farmer's year and Åsle Tå.

  • Varnhem and the Kata Farm next to Varnhem Church and Monastery ruins. Kata Church is the oldest found christian church in Sweden. The name Kata comes from the viking woman Kata who owned the land.
  • Gökhem church from 11th century.
  • Farmer's year - an exhibition how it was at the countryside in Sweden 1930-1940 before the tractors came into farming.
  • Drive on the oldest road in Northern Europe in Karleby, over 5 000 years.
  • Åsle Tå which is the Sweden’s largest collection of cottages and a unique historical environment from the 18th and 19th centuries. The cottages are in their original locations along the gently winding lane known as Tågatan and by the Kolaforsen stream.
  • In Luttra we find the biggest Neolithic passage grave from the stone age in Sweden.
  • Swedish fika.
Muncipality of Falköping is the biggest in Skaraborg County by the area. About 32 000 inhabitants, 16 500 in the city.

Day 5: Friday 31th August

Group 1: By bus and guide

  • Stockholm.

Day 9: Tuesday 4th September

Included: Breakfast & Evening Meal.

Day 10: Wednesday 5th September

Included: Breakfast.
Included: Transit from the hotel to Arlanda Airport as a group.
